Fudan University was the first private university financed and established by Chinese people. After a century’s development, Fudan has been reputed as “the top school in South Yangzi River in China”. Better equipped and more robust, it is also one step further today toward its ambitious aim of becoming a leading university in the world. The history of Fudan is just like an epitome of that occurring throughout the continuous development of higher education in China.

In the past more than one hundred years, Fudan has always been given support from all sectors of society. It shares a common fate with the country and its people, and forges ahead with the times. The love and care shown by alumni and the whole society impelled our forerunners to fight on for the university in early difficulties and hardships, encourages generations of faculty and students to work and study hard and presently consists of a precious resource for our mission to establish a world-class university. Hence, Fudan University Education Development Foundation (FUEDF) was founded in 2006 for funds rising to better support the school.

The foundation funds are mainly raised to support academic research and cultural activities, set up fellowship, students’ scholarship and financial aid, and enhance campus Infrastructure development of the university. Meanwhile, the foundation also works to build up a good public relation, give itself wide publicity in and outside the school, make more and more faculty and students be familiar to the foundation and donors and then benefited from them and act as an open platform to serve the development of the university.

The foundation is as international financing initiative of Fudan University. Qualified for tax exemption, FUEDF will provide more convenient service for donors. Furthermore, the foundation will strengthen the university’s network with overseas alumni and global partners.

Foundation is still a new undertaking for Chinese universities, which has a brilliant prospect but full of challenge. We are confident to meet challenge and create a bright future.

We believe that Fudan University Education Development Foundation, rising as a Young but energetic foundation today, will make numerous significant achievements with efforts of all of its staffs and faculty and students of Fudan University.
